I believe this is a crucial part of any positive interaction with them, as this will help both to form an initial bond between us, but also to create an optimal, safe environment in which your furry babies will meet me (in your home).  More importantly, they will have you (their doggie/cat/rabbit etc. parents), present as well! So it will all be a very positive experience for them!
